Our Story

Founded in 1988, the Children’s Hospital Trail Ride (CHTR) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to raising funds for CHRISTUS Children’s Foundation. What began as a small group with a shared purpose has grown into a time-honored tradition rooted in community, generosity, and a deep commitment to helping children in need.

Each year, CHTR hosts four signature events that bring our supporters together: an IBCA-sanctioned cook-off, a roping, a trail ride, and barrel racing. These events celebrate our western heritage while serving a greater mission — raising critical funds to support compassionate, life-saving care for children and families.

Over the years, thanks to the incredible generosity of our participants, sponsors, and supporters, CHTR has donated over $1.8 million to CHRISTUS Children’s Foundation. This impact is proudly reflected in the hospital itself, including an Oncology Wing named in our honor — a lasting testament to what a united community can accomplish.

For more than three decades, the Children’s Hospital Trail Ride has remained dedicated to making a difference, one event, one ride, and one child at a time. Every mile ridden and every dollar raised helps ensure a healthier future for the children we serve.
