Cade Akin was born in New Braunfels, TX on December 14, 2005. He was transported to The Children's Hospital of San Antonio (CHOSA) in his first few hours of life. It was determined that he had a rare chromosomal disorder, DEC 17 2005) Chromosome 6p deletion. He had various abnormalities and difficulties related to his condition that resulted in months of hospitalizations. He has been seen on almost every floor of the hospital from the ER to the NICU to the PICU to the OR and everything in between. He has had over 30 surgical procedures including heart, lung and jaw surgeries. He is now a thriving 19 year old and continuing to make developmental progress. We are sad to leave his pediatric specialists behind as we transition into the adult world but we are eternally grateful for the care that he received at CHOSA.

We know that without the expert care provided to him there, he would not be here today. We want to thank the countless nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, developmental therapists, clinics, child life specialists and all members of his care team that have contributed to his health and happiness.
